What to do with the feeling of cold after a workout (1)

The other day, Britney Spears said on Instagram (The social network is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation)

that she often feels cold after a workout. It’s probably happened to you too. Let’s figure out where this feeling comes from and whether it’s normal at all.

After workout

During exercise, the body accelerates the blood through the vessels, and you sweat and get hot. That is why after intense sports, the body has to do something with excess heat. But this system does not always work correctly, and body temperature sometimes drops faster than necessary. Then there is a feeling that you are cold.

This reaction is typical for active training (interval exercises or, for example, hot yoga) and is more common in tall people who have a larger surface area of \u200b\u200bthe skin. And most importantly, it’s okay!

If you feel that you are cold after sports, congratulations: you did a great job. In this case, it is good to have an extra jacket with you to warm up faster.

During class

But feeling cold in the middle of a workout is not very good. According to experts, this is a sign that you are dehydrated or your blood sugar has dropped sharply. Before exercising, it is recommended to drink water and eat something (for example, a banana or a handful of nuts). Then dehydration and a drop in sugar levels will not threaten you and discomfort will not arise. In principle, this recommendation is valid for any sports activities and does not depend on whether you had problems with thermoregulation before.

When to sound the alarm

If you feel cold and have a headache or stomach ache along with it, the problem may be more serious. If this happens again, it’s best to see a doctor! But muscle pain is not a cause for alarm, just give yourself an extra day of rest from playing sports.
