The skin on the neck, like that on the face and other parts of the body, is subject to the effects of aging. Over the years, lines, wrinkles, and sagging form. These small folds of skin can appear around the shoulder blades or on the upper part of the neck, near the face. And although they are partly inevitable, a good skincare routine and some changes in habits and lifestyle can help slow down the damage and have a lasting impact on the quality of our dermis.

“Now in summer we must be very careful about spending a lot of time sunbathing, one of the most harmful habits that we usually commit, as well as smoking, even though it’s all year round,” explains Patricia Rúa, responsible for the image of Nezeni Cosmetics.

HOW TO PREVENT WRINKLES ON THE NECK

The most effective way to get rid of neck wrinkles and other signs of aging is to prevent them from developing by implementing a few simple adjustments and techniques to limit damage to the dermis and prevent sagging and creasing.

The skin of the neck, like that of the face and other parts of the body, is subject to the effects of aging

1. Avoid sun exposure. This is the main cause since, among other things, it breaks down collagen. If you live in an area with a lot of natural sunlight, try to reduce the time you spend outdoors during the hours of highest radiation (from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Try to go out with a hat or cap and walk in the shade, it is also important to avoid unnatural sources of UV radiation, like tanning beds, which for the most part emit even more intense UV rays than daytime sunlight. In addition to causing wrinkles, sun exposure can contribute to the development of other signs of aging such as dark spots, spider veins, sagging, and skin changes. A preventive solution is sunscreens also on the neck, such as the facial sunscreen SPF 50+ from Nezeni Cosmetics, which protects from UVB+UVA rays, and is resistant to water and sweat.

2. Be careful with the ”tech neck” posture. How much time do you spend with your head down in front of your computer or phone and with your anterior neck muscles contracted? As the collagen content of our dermis naturally decreases in our late twenties, the lines we make in this position gradually become set and deepen. This position, called a tech neck, can’t be completely eliminated, but you can make an effort to improve your posture while you’re on your phone or cut down on screen time.

3. Use cosmetic products. The ones that can best help you minimize wrinkles are precisely anti-wrinkle creams and serums. This combination is designed to maintain optimal hydration that improves the appearance of the skin and makes fine lines and wrinkles more difficult to see, and also provides lifting and plumping actives that firm and restore fullness. To obtain the best results, look for products with proven active ingredients that promote the production of collagen, hyaluronic acid, or vitamin C, and not ingredients that only mask the problem, such as polymers or silicones.
