The AEMPS has alerted the Ministry of Health of the detection of the bacteria in some cosmetics of the company MSL Solution providers limited

The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS), has informed the Ministry of Health of the withdrawal of several lords of cosmetic and hygiene products. The reason for this withdrawal has been the detection “of the microorganism Pseudomonas aeruginosa, one of the main risks worldwide of bacterial infection, for which it is recommended that hospitals and end-users of the products do not use it”.

As explained by the AEMPS, this problem has been detected “through several European alerts for bacterial infection communicated by the European Union’s Rapid Information Exchange System (RAPEX)”. It is, it specifies, “voluntary measures adopted by the company MSL SOLUTION PROVIDERS LIMITED with respect to several cosmetic products contaminated by the bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa”.

To be eliminated in Spain are Oasis Shampoo Cap Unperfumed; Oasis Shampoo Cap Perfumed; Bedbath Oasis; Perfumed Oasis Bedbath Unperfumed.

In addition, they continue to ensure that “this bacterium can present risks for people with health problems or with a weakened immune system.” The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), described the dangerous six bacteria that I group under the acronym ESKAPE and that are: Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumonia, Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterobacter spp.

AFFECTED PRODUCTS

According to the statement, the four products affected and that have had to be eliminated in Spain are Oasis Shampoo Cap Unperfumed; Oasis Shampoo Cap Perfumed; Bedbath Oasis; Perfumed Oasis Bedbath Unperfumed.

The company responsible for the products, MSL Solution Providers Limited, has decided to recover not only the products contaminated by the bacteria but also all the cosmetic products affected and manufactured in the same plant. Prim SA, the company that distributes the products in Spain, has taken the withdrawal the products from the market as a voluntary measure. These are BB08UP Oasis® Wipes Unscented; CBC025 Conti® Wipes; CWF050L Conti® Wet Wipes; MBB08UP Oasis® Wipes Unscented; RSC553 Conti® Barrier Wipes; RSC605A Oasis® Gloves; RSC905UP Oasis® Shampoo Cap Fragrance-Free; RSC913NM Oasis® Wipe Unscented; SC01UP Oasis® shampoo cap.

In addition, the AEMPS “recommends hospital centers that have a unit of these products that they do not use it and that they contact the distributor that supplied them”
