200 years since the birth of George Bull in the world are marked on the calendar for a reason.

Today, November 2, Google released a new Doodle in honor of the great mathematician who was one of the founders of mathematical logic.

George Boole received his information about mathematical foundations from his father, who was self-taught. By the age of 20, Boole opened his own school, where he taught, while simultaneously studying a course in higher mathematics.

Later, George Boole published a number of scientific papers that have become classics in the world of mathematics. He declared the need to revise the approach to the symbolic language of algebra and became one of the founders of the science of logic.

One of George Boole’s daughters, Ethel Lillian, wrote the world-famous novel The Gadfly. She also translated Taras Shevchenko’s poems into English.
