It seems to many that Hollywood salaries allow for a comfortable old age. After the Sony studio email was hacked, these assumptions turned out to be not far from the truth.

It became known how much Hollywood film workers earn: from actors to food vendors.

Hollywood’s real salaries have been revealed by Hollywoodreporter.com. In order to investigate such a slippery topic, consultations were held with producers, accounting companies, film industry guilds, and many other participants in the 2015 television and film process. For example, the staff of a horse farm in upper New York, which supplies animals to film sets, was interviewed. And, of course, the lion’s dose of classified information was given by the November hacking of the mailbox of the Sony studio by North Korean cyberterrorists. In the modern world, not only the speed of dissemination of information is increasing, but also the fees for television production, for example. Visually, the costs of television and filming are clearly visible, thanks to illustrations by Wesley Bedrosian.

Newcomers are paid $10,000 to $20,000 per episode for network or cable. Experienced actors earn between $75,000 and $100,000 per episode, while stars charge $150,000 to appear in the first season. Then plus 4% with each subsequent season (James Spader receives $ 160,000 in the second season of The Blacklist / Jeff Garlin receives $ 84,000 in the second season of The Goldbergs / The Goldbergs). The big money comes after the renegotiation of the contract, which usually happens by the third season. The overwhelming success gives the stars of the hit series a reason to demand up to a million dollars per episode, like Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons in The Big Bang Theory.

Film actor

Stars of Meryl Streep’s size put in their pocket a fee of five million (the actress received so much for Ricky and the Flash). Some even more: Denzel Washington got $20 million in advance for The Great Equalizer. Box office success guarantees even more money: Robert Downey Jr has reportedly made $50 million from The Avengers. Supporting actors, of course, earn less (Kevin Kline earned $350,000 for his role in Ricky and the Flash).

Supporting actors

The main characters’ friends and neighbors work for five figures per episode. Jonathan Banks received $65,000 per episode on Better Call Saul in the first season, and the kids from the second season of The Goldbergs got $20,000-$25,000 each.

Film Producer

Here, profits are falling, because there are fewer sky-high offers. It is important that transactions with a percentage of sales have almost disappeared. Experienced producers for a studio release manage to get 1.5-2 million upfront and often even more after the work is completed. Will Smith and James Lassiter’s Overbrook Entertainment raised $2 million to produce last year’s Annie.

Film director

“Fork” of salaries: from $500,000 (as much newcomer J. Blakeson received for the “5th wave”) to three million (as Sony offered Danny Boyle for “Steve Jobs”). Successful at the box office, “Transformers” helped Michael Bay earn about 80 million.

Second director

The salary of the second director is about $8,000 per week. It works for 15-20 weeks. That’s a total of $120,000 – $160,000 per film.

Teleoperator

The main camera operator is paid $75 an hour, or $8,000 for an hour-long TV drama episode.

TV director

An hour-long TV drama director gets about $42,000 per episode, and sitcoms $35,000. Rule number 1: Direct a pilot episode, because you get paid for all subsequent episodes, even if you never show up on set again. Joe Carnahan, who directed the pilot for The Blacklist, is receiving a $5,000 check for each episode of the final season.

Film screenwriter

Authors with a name receive a million dollars per script, plus a bonus if the film is successful. On sale, the cost of a written script ranges from hundreds of thousands to three million dollars (that’s how much Sony paid James Vanderbilt for “The White House Down”). The most lucrative business in this direction is the adaptation of scripts, this can bring $ 500,000 in a few weeks of work.

Publicist

The standard rate for the Writers Guild of America is $37,368 for an hourly script, and $25,408 for a half-hour script. Also, TV writers can earn between $7,000 and $15,000 per episode on a weekly basis. The writers of a season of a show get between $20,000 and $30,000 per episode, even if they don’t contribute to the script. Rates are reviewed with each following season.

Publicist

About 5 million a year is paid to Jeff Robinov at Warner Bros.), but bonuses can turn these numbers into eight figures.
