Marilyn Monroe was born Norma Jean on June 1, 1926. A few years later, due to work, the girl’s mother was forced to give her daughter to a temporary family of guardians. In 1933, the adoptive parents were about to adopt Norma, as her own mother finally felt herself standing firmly on her feet and took her daughter home.
Alas, within a few months, the mother began to show signs of a mental disorder, and Norma was placed in temporary state care. In 1935, a 9-year-old girl ended up in an orphanage in Los Angeles, then the authorities convinced her mother to still take her daughter home, but there Norma was sexually harassed by her stepfather.
Then the girl moved to her great-aunt Olivia – there one of the sons also harassed her, and Norma was forced to move again – this time to her great-aunt. After several quiet years of life, in 1942, the teenage girl returned to her mother and went to school in Van Nuys.
It was there that Norma Jean met a guy – a sailor named James Dougherty, and they began an affair. When the guy received a transfer, 16-year-old Norma wanted to leave with him – just not to stay with her mother. Alas, an underage girl could not leave the state, and then she and James decided to get married.
After the wedding, Norma dropped out of school and settled at home with her new husband. According to Monroe herself, her first marriage was rather insipid – they hardly spoke to her husband.
A year after the wedding, Norma got a job at an aircraft factory, where she soon took part in professional photography. The girls drew attention to the pictures, after which they were offered a job as a model.
Norma left her job at the factory, and in 1945 became famous, after which she took the pseudonym Marilyn Monroe. With her first husband, who did not approve of her new profession, the bright blonde broke up before her finest hour. Imagine how he then bit his elbows!
