Dirty and viscous hair already on the first day after washing? Many people face this problem. Dealing with it is difficult, but possible.

 We share the secrets of what to do if the hair gets oily quickly.

Oily hair is like oily skin. Sometimes we are born with such features, and sometimes the hair roots become oily due to improper care. Does your hair get greasy quickly? We understand the causes and look for effective ways to fix the problem.

Why does hair get greasy quickly?

Natural oils are part of your scalp’s defense system. When they mix with sweat and dirt, the hair becomes greasy. In fact, the process of pollution is a normal phenomenon. But if the hair gets oily too quickly, you need to reconsider your daily hair care.

There are a number of reasons why hair becomes oily on the second day after washing, or even on the same day:

  • Intense exercise in the gym;
  • Excessive humidity or heat outside;
  • Active shampooing. Every time you shampoo your hair, your scalp starts to produce sebum. The more often you wash your hair, the more natural oils are produced;
  • Features of the hair, for example, straight, prone to oiliness: the hair shaft does not have any texture, and therefore the oil is not distributed along the entire length;
  • Wrong care product – applies to both shampoo and conditioner. Sometimes hair oil is used incorrectly, rubbing it into the roots in large quantities.

Shampoos and conditioners for oily hair

These are the first of the cosmetics that you should definitely include in your arsenal. When choosing a shampoo for oily hair, pay attention to the following points:

  1. The main task of such a remedy is to reduce the activity of the sebaceous glands of the skin, that is, a kind of drying effect. In order for the shampoo to have a similar effect, it must contain salicylic acid, zinc compounds, lemon extracts, or other substances that regulate the secretion of the sebaceous glands.
  2. Another important function is the removal of fatty films already present on the hair. This means that the essential components of the shampoo should be compounds that can dissolve fats.
  3. Often, hair becomes oily quickly due to inflammation of the skin. In this case, use a shampoo with cooling and anti-inflammatory properties.
  4. Also, do not forget that fats are involved in maintaining moisture in the skin, follicle, and hair shaft. Therefore, since we have deprived the hair of this fatty film, care should be taken to maintain water balance. And best of all, this will allow you to make a conditioner with a moisturizing effect, which must be used after washing your hair.

What to do to prevent oily hair

We figure out what to do if the hair is quickly greasy and dirty. Simple care tips will help remedy the situation.

Apply conditioner and mask only to the ends of your hair.

Oily hair roots – what to do? It’s very simple – do not apply greasy care products to the scalp, so as not to overload the hair roots. Instead, spread the product from the middle to the ends. In addition, use products designed specifically for oily curls. For regular care, a few drops of the product are enough.

Use baby powder

There is no dry shampoo – buy a simple baby powder at the pharmacy. Its principle of action is no different – pour the product on the roots and rub it. Then you need to carefully comb out the remnants. If you have dark hair, use a natural bronzer like cocoa. Mix it with powder and apply the mixture to the roots in the same way.

Use dry shampoo

Dry shampoo is a classic. The tool helps not only to fight oily roots and curls but also works well in emergency situations when there is no time to wash your hair.

Rarely my head

We repeat: if you constantly wash off natural oils from the scalp, then it will begin to produce them even more. The optimal schedule is to wash your hair every other day. Gradually increase the break. Also, try to use a clarifying shampoo from time to time. It washes away the “dim” dirt from the strands and makes them shiny and vibrant.

Use the right brush

A bad hairbrush does not distribute oil from the scalp and leaves it in the roots. Choose brushes with natural bristles, such as boar, for the hair collection. They distribute the oil well and massage the scalp at the same time.

Choose the right hair products

Avoid mousses and gels that quickly pollute your hair. Try to avoid products that increase the shine of your hair. The ingredients in these products cause oiliness.

Don’t straighten your curls

The closer your hair is to your head, the more it comes into contact with skin oils. Wavy and curly curls give your hair more volume, which means they prolong the freshness of your hair.
