Gel polish, although it is considered a resistant coating, is still not immune from the appearance of chips and cracks.
And this innocent action is especially detrimental to the durability of the manicure.
Why do burrs appear
The main cause of burrs is dry skin, which is most often caused by constant contact with water or household chemicals. There are other triggers: lack of vitamins A and E in the diet, poor-quality manicures, nail biting, or fungus.
How to prevent burrs
There are seven rules that you must follow.
Use hand cream
Apply it to the skin several times a day and do not forget to rub the product into the cuticle thoroughly.
Don’t forget the gloves
Do you wash dishes? Do you wash anything by hand? You didn’t get a lazy mop and in an old-fashioned way you rinse the rag in water and wring it out. Be sure to wear gloves – your hands will thank you for it!
Apply oil to your nails
You can buy a special one, but the usual ones are also suitable – apricot, peach, marula or grape seed. You can make a mask at night – apply oil on the nail and the skin around it, put on cotton gloves, and go to bed.
Do you want to enhance the effect? Make a pre-soak for your fingers with sea salt and a few drops of essential oil. Just keep in mind: sea salt is not suitable if wounds have already appeared on the hands.
Wear gloves
Wind and frost are bad for the skin and can lead to burrs.
Add liver, carrots, cilantro, parsley, spinach, eggs, and cottage cheese to it – they are rich in vitamin A. Remember to drink water – you may not get enough fluid during the day, and this has led to dry skin.
Change your manicurist
If all the previous tips did not help, it is possible that a non-professional is working on your nails, using cheap products that dry the skin.
Talk to a doctor
There is a possibility that the matter is not in the diet or the beauty salon. Certain medications, such as diuretics or cholesterol-lowering medications, can cause hangnails.
