It has long been known that reading bedtime stories contributes to the formation of the emotional sphere of children. However, earlier psychologists did not attach much importance to the one who reads aloud to the child.
It turns out that it is the mother who should tell entertaining stories and read fascinating children’s books before going to bed to a small child. This conclusion was made by scientists at the University of Florida.
It turned out that the female style of storytelling is more conducive to the development of emotions in a small person than the male style of storytelling.
Fairy tale stories and episodes from life told by parents not only help to form the emotional sphere in children more correctly and quickly, but also teach them to correctly interpret their experience, logically dividing time into the past, present and future.
During the study, scientists also conducted an experiment in which 42 families with children 4-5 years old participated. Parents had to remind their son or daughter about incidents from his life – one episode was of joyful nature, and the other described a sad event in the child’s life. Moreover, these stories were told in turn by fathers and mothers.
It turned out that mothers usually remember various small details better and enrich their stories with words that convey and describe feelings and emotions. In general, regardless of the topic of the conversation, mothers were more involved in communication with the baby.
It is close communication with the mother that helps the child learn to understand his emotions and analyze life experiences.
