Colorists came up with this type of staining specifically to hide imperfections. And it costs much less than other procedures!

Contouring has long been a common make-up technique for correcting facial features. Today, this technique is used not only by stellar makeup artists but also by you and me: for example, when we want to draw clearer cheekbones or visually reduce the nose.

Recently, this technology has formed the basis of a new trend in coloring. Like makeup, hair contouring emphasizes the dignity of the face and hides imperfections. And no, in this case, you don’t need to apply cosmetics on curls 🙂

Hair contouring is a type of coloring in which the master works only with strands near the face. For this part, lighter tones are selected, in harmony with the rest of the hair mass. As a result, the strands near the face look as if burned out in the sun. Thanks to the contouring of the hair, the face becomes more harmonious and oval.

The key idea of hair contouring is to disperse the highlights on the strands in a special way: so that the light ones reflect the light, and the dark ones, on the contrary, attract attention. For example, to make a large forehead more compact, the strands in the upper part of the head are painted in dark tones, and the rest of the head is given a light shade. And if you need to hide the excessive elongation of the face, darker accents are made on the part below the level of the chin.

Unlike standard coloring techniques, contouring works out the minimum amount of hair. Thanks to this, the cost of contouring remains more affordable. In addition, you do not have to spend money on special care products to maintain the quality of curls. The main thing is to find a competent master who owns the technology. After all, like shatush and balayage, this technique is considered more difficult to perform – and is not suitable for independent home hair coloring.
